News and Updates!

It’s been a really long time since I’ve made a blog post, let’s have an update on what’s going on lately!

★Health Update★ My wrist/arm is steadily improving! I’ve got a three times a day routine of stretching/exercises to keep things moving, and can usually draw for a few hours before I need to stop. I’m very mindful of what’s manageable and what’s too far, and I’ve got my grip strength back now! This isn’t to say things are perfect, there are some days everything is aching from the day job and I need the night off, but its a vast improvement over just a few months back. Managing a RSI like this is a careful balancing act of rest/work and I’m certainly not the only artist dealing with arm pain, but I’m glad I’ve found a routine that seems to be working out. Thank you all for the well wishes you’ve sent in the meantime! (°◡°♡)

★What’s Cooking in the Patreon★ There’s now three complete Alternate Universe sketch comics over on the $1 tier of Patreon, and twenty some Basement tier sketches/mini comics waiting for you if you’d like to support me there! There’s a brand new Alternate Universe comic that just started featuring rowdy lust demons wreaking havoc at the Academy, so now’s a good time to jump in. ╭( ・ㅂ・)و   If you’re not into Patreon but still want to support the comic, sharing the URL with friends, reblogging update posts on Tumblr, or RTing updates from Twitter are all awesome ways to help!

★Art Gallery Additions★ There’s a lot of new sketches in the gallery if you haven’t checked in a while, including a section for commissioned/fan art of EA characters! There’s so many Al faces in there, it’s so beautiful. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

★Livestreams★ I’ve been trying to do more frequent livestreams if that’s a thing you like, you can come chat with me and watch some art being made (if I’m working on NSFW pages you’ll be given notice) it’s a real good time!

We’re closing in on the end of Part 2 in the comic, and in Part 3 things amp up in new ways and I’m just so excited to tell this story to you guys I’m practically vibrating when I sit down to draw, haha!     I’m so glad to hear you’re continuing to improve, Asmodeus! My friend just started PT for shoulder damage and its completely miserable going during the first few months. Thank you so much for continuing to post all these amazing (smutty goodness) pages for us even while you’re recovering! You’re amazing. I so desperately want to join your patreon now… agghhhh. Maybe next month or so? I’m going to shoot for SOON because all the extra stuff sounds super exciting! Buff demons and blushing exorcists (or buff exorcists and blushing demons is good, too) are my JAM. Also, you tell a really awesome story, so I’d probably stay around for stick figures and amazing story telling too. But when the art is awesome in addition to the awesome story? SOLD.

    Is there any good reference for arm exercises for artists to stave off RSI? As you said, there are a lot of artists out there who have RSI issues. Some even have to have surgery for them.

    I’m really glad you’re continuing to improve! You need to keep yourself safe and well, even if it means cutting down on the comics… but I’m also (rather selfishly, because I love your comic) glad your output is improving as well. 🙂

    • There are! Most involve frequent stretching (and holding for at least 30 seconds for the most benefit) to alleviate tension and soreness from whatever activity is stressing your hand/wrist/arm. This video is a good one that demonstrates how to safely stretch, and can help prevent and help treat multiple wrist/arm problems.

      Honestly though, artists biggest problem is working for too many hours straight, rarely taking breaks, and not taking care of their bodies! Everyone I know who has problems is guilty of spending far too long at the drawing table. I used to routinely draw for 8 or 10 hours at a time, and then during the week go into the day job and type for another 8 hours. All that adds up! I didn’t think it was a big deal until I hurt myself, and now I’ll forever preach about the benefits of stretching/exercising frequently, even if you currently have no injuries.

  • I’m so happy you’re getting better, and I’m even happier that you seem to know your limits and aren’t overworking yourself! Also, thanks to you, I had to quickly google RSI to find out what it is. How’d your injury occur, if you don’t mind me asking?

    • In the most ridiculous way possible – scrubbing sinks and tubs and the like when I was cleaning one day. I know it sounds nuts but that’s the straw that broke the camel’s back! Years of typing and using a keyboard/mouse all day for work and then drawing 2 or 3 hours each night/8 or 10 hours a day on the weekend blew up all at once, I suppose (。﹏。) But now at least I’m keeping myself in check! ╭( ・ㅂ・)و

      Its self serving advice, I just want you to be able to draw as long and fast as possible XD totally impatient when ot comes to updates LOL
